How It Works

Our three Yin yoga course modules are broken into useful, digestible sections. The asana teaches the key principles of Yin yoga, the practice, and how to teach these to others. The anatomy section covers the scientific and spiritual aspects of Yin yoga. Both of these aspects of our Yin yoga online classes take your teaching abilities to the next level.

In addition to these modules, you’ll complete 14 hours of self study using pre-recorded content. At Durga Yoga Ireland we aim to personalise your experience when you study Yin yoga online. So here you have the option to specialise in your areas of interest such as pre-natal Yin or chakra Yin. We want to empower you to meet your personal goals.

The course takes place over three weekends from 12 pm to 7 pm. Sign up for our waiting list today to book your slot on the next training sessions. Or book a free 20-minute consultation with course instructor Paula Mitten.

Paula Mitten

Paula Mitten is an internationally recognised yoga teacher and yoga teacher trainer. She’s the creator of Durga Yoga Ireland and Yoga Teachers Masterclass. Paula is a teacher of teachers, teaching yoga for 18 years and facilitating teacher training since 2011.

Paula's passion is encouraging self exploration and inner belief in her students and is committed to building a yoga community of support, connection and generosity.

When she's not teaching yoga you will find Paula dancing in her kitchen to 90's old school music, or at the stables with the horses. In the stillness of the morning, before the rest of the world wakes, Paula enjoys sitting leisurely over a pot of fresh organic coffee and taking some quiet time to think.

Paula's first experience with yoga was while working as a costume designer in film and television. She found pranayama as a way to destress, and cope with anxiety and overwhelm.

She went on to take over 1,000 hours in Yoga Teacher Training, as well as training in Sports Psychology, Anatomy and Physiology, Business and Marketing, Leadership and Transformation Skills.

Paula’s spiritual journey is never finished, and she considers herself a dedicated student for life.

Jennilee Toner

Jennilee Toner is a student and teacher of yoga and human anatomy. Her story (so far) includes: practicing hatha and vinyasa yoga since 1996, teaching both disciplines since 2003, teaching experiential anatomy to yoga teachers in training—internationally—since 2010, as well as facilitating her own Hot Warrior Yoga and Inner Sanctum Yoga teacher training programmes since 2012 and 2016 respectively.

But that’s not all . . . she also wrote a book called The Perfect Chaturanga: A Comprehensive Guide to the Human Body Through the Practice of Vinyasa Yoga

Her yoga journey began in 1996 while working as a deputy sheriff and training as a medic, military policewoman, and drill sergeant for the U.S. Army. Following the sudden death of her mother, she found herself wanting to make a change and be a more kind and compassionate person. Enter yoga. For the first time she became aware of how everything’s connected, and has been a lover and practitioner of yoga ever since.

Is Yin Yoga Hard?

We’ll be transparent with you, Yin yoga isn’t easy. It may be a slow practice but it requires strength both mental and physical.

But we believe everybody has the capacity and courage to achieve these qualities. Without a challenge, there would be little gratification in achieving your goals. Yin yoga empowers those with fundamental yoga training to stretch themselves and accomplish great things.

Know that we’ll give you the strength and confidence to master the practice. We’ll teach you how to breathe through the poses and develop at your own pace.

That being said, you may feel that, for now, a different type of yoga practice is more suitable. Explore our Vinyasa teacher training course, which provides a spirited and energetic experience. A more dynamic style of yoga may align with your current energy.

How Long Is Yin Yoga Teacher Training?

The course at Durga Yoga Ireland runs over 50 hours. As you have the fundamentals in place, we feel this is the optimum amount of time to deepen the physical practice. It also provides enough time and space to get in touch with the spiritual elements and learn the science behind the practice.

We encourage you to take part in the sessions live, to benefit from personal feedback from our instructors. However, these sessions are also recorded, meaning if you miss an afternoon for any reason, you can catch up at any time.
